Mixed Media Collage: Still Life
Create your own floral collage! This class is an introduction to gelli printing and mixed media collage. It is for both beginning and intermediate artists. In this class we will use acrylic paint and a gelli plate to paint a variety of papers to use in a 5x7 collage.
Gelli printing is a fun and easy process that creates unexpected combinations of color and texture. It is somewhat unpredictable, and you are sure to get some papers you can use in your collage. There will be a selection of papers for you to print on (ie. maps, book pages, old sheet music). Lace will be used to make papers that look like tablecloths and stencils and other patterning tools will be used to make papers that look like wallpaper. We will use some of my carved blocks to stamp leaves and flowers on some of the papers and cut simple shapes for a table, wall and vase. After we cut out the flowers and leaves, we will play around with different paper and color combinations for the collage. Then we glue it all together. You will take home a matted 5x7 still life that is ready for an 8x10 frame. All supplies will be provided, however, if you have some meaningful paper or lace you want to include in the collage please bring it with you.

    • We are located at 145 W Main St. in Cambridge, WI. There is ample public parking behind the building. We request that all class participants enter through our rear door after business hours - anytime after 5:00 pm. Our classes take place at the back of the building, you may use the front door during open hours.

    • We MUST receive 4+ registrations to hold a class, registration closes one week prior to class start date. If the class does not meet minimum registration, it is subject to reschedule or cancellation. We always prioritize rescheduling a class first.  If a class is rescheduled, you will have the option to sign up for the rescheduled date, or be issued credit towards a future class. If we are not able to reschedule and must cancel a class, we will issue you credit towards a future class (no cash refunds). If you aren’t able to attend the class and it is past the registration deadline, no class credit will be issued.

    • All tools and materials will be supplied by Art Hub for your class, unless otherwise noted.

    • This is an active art environment, dress for a mess! Art Hub has aprons you can use, and you are also welcome / encouraged to bring your own apron.
